The final jury of the ‘Peripherial Urbanism’ Studio of METU MUD was held with the contribution o the visiting jury members, Burak Öztürk (the senior planner of Döşemealtı Municipality), Assist. Prof. Dr. Nedim Kemer and M. Nazim Ozer (Ministry of Environment and Urbanism) on January 5, 2018.
Under the theme of the studio course, seven group projects in the form of design guideline to control the peripheral development of the city of Döşemealtı have been presented. Based on the character areas specified to reveal the original problematics of peripheral sprawl, the design groups suggested a series of codes and principles to come up with good urbanism both for Döşemealtı and the similar type of mid-range cities under the pressure of rapid metropolitan growth.
